Project Description
Project Overview
Clondalkin Cricket Club (CCC) is a fast-growing, inclusive cricket club based in Clondalkin, Dublin. The club welcomes players of every age and skill level, from complete beginners picking up a bat for the first time to seasoned cricketers, and its mission goes beyond the sport itself: building lifelong friendships, encouraging personal growth, and celebrating the diversity of its community.
Like many volunteer-run sports clubs, CCC had a story worth telling and a community worth growing, but no proper digital home to do it from. Training times, team information, and event updates lived in scattered social posts and word of mouth. A prospective member searching for cricket in Clondalkin had no single place to understand what the club offered or how to join.
We were appointed to design and build a website that presents the club's story compellingly, keeps members informed, and turns curious visitors into new sign-ups.

The Challenge
A community sports club website has a harder job than it looks. It serves two very different audiences at once: existing members who need practical information quickly (training times, fixtures, event updates), and prospective members who need to feel the club's character before they commit to showing up at a session.
Three specific challenges shaped the build:
- Organising a large amount of content into an engaging layout. Teams, training schedules, events, club history, values, and photo galleries all had to coexist without overwhelming the visitor, especially on a phone screen, where most club traffic arrives.
- Keeping visitors exploring. A club site that gets skimmed and closed does not produce sign-ups. The site needed to hold attention long enough for the club's community spirit to come through.
- Cross-device consistency. Members check fixtures on phones at the ground; parents research the club on laptops at home. The experience had to be identical everywhere, so the site was tested across all major devices and browsers.
Website Structure and User Experience
We structured the site around the questions a visitor actually arrives with: Who are this club? Can I (or my child) train with them? What's coming up? What's it actually like?
- About the Club - shares CCC's journey, mission and values, so a first-time visitor immediately understands what the club stands for.
- Teams and training information - clear, structured pages for every level, from beginners to experienced players.
- Events page - upcoming matches and training sessions in one predictable place, replacing scattered social posts.
- Gallery - match photos and club activities that show the energy and spirit of the team better than any copy could.
- Sticky header navigation - teams, gallery, and contact are always one tap away, wherever the visitor is on the page.
Subtle scroll animations and transitions give the site a polished, engaging feel, deliberately kept lightweight so they never slow the page down.

Technical Implementation
The site is built on WordPress with a Bootstrap-based front end, hosted on secure, reliable WordPress hosting. Every technical decision followed from how a volunteer-run club actually uses its website.
| Layer | Technology | Why chosen |
|---|---|---|
| Frontend | HTML, CSS, Bootstrap | Lightweight, responsive layout that loads fast on the phones most club traffic arrives from |
| Platform | WordPress CMS | Volunteers can manage events, news and photos themselves with no technical experience |
| Hosting | Secure WordPress hosting | Reliable uptime for a site members check on match days |
| SEO build | Meta tags, performance optimisation, keyword-ready pages | So the club is findable by people searching for cricket in the Clondalkin and wider Dublin area |
Built for Volunteers to Run Themselves
The feature that matters most for a volunteer-run club is the one visitors never see: the back end. We set up custom content sections so club volunteers can add or edit event details, team updates, and news themselves, with no technical experience needed.
That means the site stays current without depending on a developer for every fixture change, which is exactly where most club websites quietly die.
Results and Outcome
Following launch, the club reported an increase in traffic, event participation, and new member sign-ups, along with positive feedback on the site's usability and mobile performance. The website strengthened the connection between club members and the wider community, and gave the club a clean, professional online presence to match its ambitions.
We publish no traffic or membership figures for this project. The club's analytics are theirs, and we do not invent numbers. What we can point to is the live site itself: clondalkincricketclub.ie, a vibrant digital home for a growing Dublin sports community, and what the club's own people say about working with us:
